Richard Rohr
Richard Rohr (born 1943) is an internationally recognized American Franciscan friar, author, and teacher who founded the Center for Action and Contemplation in New Mexico.
His work aims to move people from dualistic, "either/or" thinking—which separates and judges—to non-dual consciousness, emphasizing the central theological theme that "everything belongs," including suffering, failure, and marginalized people, as part of God's inclusive reality.
A core concept in his teaching is the "Two Halves of Life." The first half is focused on building identity and structure (the ego), while the necessary second half is a journey of letting go and finding one's True Self through letting one's small life fall apart—often referred to as The Great Unknowing.
Rohr teaches that authentic spirituality must integrate contemplation (inner transformation) with action (compassion and social justice). He presents Christ not just as the historical figure of Jesus, but as a universal, Cosmic Christ—the pattern of union inherent in all creation.
Trinity Prayer – Richard Rohr
God For Us, we call You Father,
God Alongside Us, we call You Jesus,
God Within Us, we call You Holy Spirit.
You are the Eternal Mystery
That enables, enfolds, and enlivens all things,
Even us and even me.
Every name falls short of your
Goodness and Greatness.
We can only see who You are in what is.
We ask for such perfect seeing.
As it was in the beginning, is now,
and ever shall be. Amen.
