After Jesus healed a blind man, the Pharisees asked the man how he was healed. He told them, but they approached his parents to double-check his story (see John 9:13-34). The parents were baffled too! Again the Pharisees asked the son, who replied, 'I have told you already and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you want to become his disciples too' (John 9:27 NIV)? Either the healed man was teasing the Pharisees or genuinely questioning their motives. Whichever one, this man was focused on Jesus. His heart was 100% set on the miracle he'd received. He tells the Pharisees: 'Whether he is a sinner or not, I don't know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see' (John 9:25 NIV)! He's essentially saying, 'Look, I get that you have your rules, but I have sight. I have a miracle and a new lease on life.'
Sometimes we need to stop and acknowledge what God has done in our lives and in the lives of people we know. We get so busy that we can temporarily forget the miracles, the transformations, the fresh hope and healings that have been given to us or to those around us.
Let's keep the memories of God's previous faithfulness to hand, so that our faith can be built even stronger, and we can see him revealed more and more.
So what now? We'd love to hear what God has done in your life and what he's still doing. Let us know on facebook.com/wordforyoutodaynz.
